Former fans favourite Eric Graves is amongst the first signings to commit to the club for the forthcoming season as he returns to the Moat Ground.

Lucas Harrison and Ryan King are the latest players to have committed their futures to Gresley FC for the forthcoming Evostik league campaign.

Don't forget to pop up to the Moat on Saturday or Sunday or both at 10am with your paintbrush. There has already been a lot or work done but your help would be very much appreciated even if it's only for a couple of hours or so.

The Gresley management team have been busy this week adding more names to their squad ahead of the upcoming Evo-Stik East season which kicks of on August 18th.

Another busy week has seen a few more players added to the Gresley squad including some local young talent.

Gresley will play Sutton Coldfield Town away in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup due to be played on 25th August.

Gresley FC are planning a Family Fun day on August Bank Holiday Sunday in order to raise club funds.

Gresley make one of their longest journeys to begin their new league season as they travel to league new boys Brighouse Town on Saturday 18th August.

Due to England playing in the 3rd & 4th game against Belgium at 3pm, the kick off for our match at the Moat against Thringstone MW has been brought forward to 1pm. The England game will be shown in the Social Club.

Due to Gresley playing Sutton Coldfield in the FA Cup two weeks after the planned pre-season friendly on 11th August, it was agreed by both clubs that the friendly be cancelled. Gresley will try to arrange an alternative fixture.

Gresley FC travel to near neighbours Stapenhill tonight continuing to run the season’s Reserve team players.

Gresley take on Hinckley AFC at the Moat Ground later today (3pm) in their latest pre-season fixture.

Kieran O’Connell will miss a return to former club South Normanton Athletic for tonight’s friendly but defender Kane Jellyman does, however, make his return to the at the M J Robinson Structures Arena after signing for Gresley last week after an impressive pre-season to date.

With deepest regrets it's become clear recently that revered local legend Dave Hackett is suffering from a brain tumour.

Gresley manager Gary Norton will use todays friendly at the Moat ground against Matlock Town (3pm) to give some more of the club's young guns an opportunity to shine and show what they can do.

"Today at the Matlock Town friendly, I collected on behalf of the Supporters Club towards the Macmillan fund being raised on behalf of our beloved Dave Hackett. I'm delighted to say that thanks to your generosity and that of the Matlock fans, we raised over £230 today which given the crowd is a great amount. It was the easiest collection I've ever done and that's a testament to what Dave means to all of us at the club.

The start of another busy week of preseason see’s Gresley travel the short distance tonight to take on Graham St Prims at the Asterdale Sports Ground (KO 7.30pm) with manager Gary Norton aiming to give further opportunity to some of the club's younger talent as he did on Saturday.

Gresley go into their penultimate pre -season game against a Burton Albion XI tonight with manager Gary Norton showing no concern over the fact that he is still without a number of his squad for tonight’s game.

Gresley FC can confirm agreement has been reached with Burton Albion for the 3 month loan of goalkeeper Jack Livesey.

The club are saddened to hear of the death of Bob Wheeler husband of South Derbyshire MP Heather Wheeler who are both long time supporters of Gresley FC. Our condolences go to Heather and her family.

Dominic Allen has decided to leave Gresley on the eve of the season to re-join former club Belper Town. After discussion with Manager Gary Norton the 7 days Belper issued for Dom yesterday was waived to allow him to sign for Belper ahead of the season starting on Saturday.

Gresley FC commence the new season tomorrow with a trip to Brighouse Town.

Gresley take on Stocksbridge Park Steels tonight in their first home league game of the new campaign hoping to bounce back from defeat at Brighouse in Saturdays opener.

Gresley embark on the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round (Saturday 3pm) in the hope of going further in the competition than last season when we suffered defeat against Brocton a team 2 leagues below. The test this season will be much tougher in a trip to Sutton Coldfield Town who play on a 3G artificial surface.

Unfortunately, due to the very wet weather, this afternoon's Community Day at the Moat Ground has had to be postponed. It will be re-arranged for a date in September. Please let anyone know who may have popped up - thank you.

With both clubs out of the FA Cup, the league have brought forward our home fixture against Carlton Town from 23rd February to Saturday 8th September.

The recently postponed (due to wet weather) Fund Raising Day has been re-arranged for Sunday 30th September starting at 12 noon.

Hoping for another good result Gresley host their second home match of the season at the Moat Ground tomorrow against Tadcaster Albion (3pm) hoping to build on the excellent second half performance seen against Belper Town on Monday.

It has been decided that Saturday's game at The Moat against Carlton Town is to be a non-league taster game where admission for everyone will be just £5.

It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of Dave Hackett after a short illness. Everyone at Gresley FC send their condolences to Dave’s wife Julie, his two sons, his close family and friends at this difficult time. Dave’s funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as we know them.

Manager Gary Norton will be missing from tomorrows FA Trophy game against Newcastle Town as he will be on a pre-arranged trip abroad so Carl Slater will step up and lead the team.

The away fixture against Spalding United originally scheduled for 5th January 2019 has been brought forward to Saturday 27th October (3pm).

Gresley face their longest trip of the season when they travel to Northumberland to face league leaders Morpeth Town in what is the first of three back to back away games.

Albert Lansdowne is a surprise inclusion in tonight's squad to face Evo-Stik Premier League neighbours Mickleover Sports at the Moat Ground (7.45pm) in the Derbyshire Senior Cup 2nd Round game.

We have taken delivery of a new remembrance badge which feature the Gresley FC badge and a poppy. They are £4 each with a £1 donated to the Poppy Appeal. They will be available on Saturday (10th Nov) at the reserve team's Derbyshire Cup game at the Moat Ground.

Gresley have been drawn away to the winners of the Belper Town and AFC Mansfield in the 3rd Round of the Integro League Challenge Cup. The game is scheduled to be played on Tuesday 4th December.

Congratulations to Leanne and Jamie Barrett on the birth of their little boy Beau 2lb 13oz a brother for India-Lily. Leanne can now begin her cancer treatment and everyone hopes and prays that it is successful and that mother and baby do well. All our thoughts are with the Barrett family at this challenging time.

More details of the fund raising game being held at the Moat Ground have been released ahead of the game on Sunday and a whole host of ex Derby County legends are going to be in attendance to offer their support for the cause.

Yesterday’s fund raising match held at Gresley FC to help raise funds for Jamie Barrett’s wife Leanne to help with her ongoing battle with cancer was a huge success with almost £9000 raised.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) night's u18's game at the Moat Ground against Mansfield Town has been postponed.

It is with sadness that we have to report the death of former Gresley Rovers player/coach Phil Aston on the 27th November, aged 94 years. Phil made his debut against Hinckley Athletic at the Moat on 24th August 1957 and played his final game against Wolverhampton Wanderers A away on 3rd May 1958 making a total of 29 appearances. Our condolences go to Phil's family and friends.

Two players have decided to leave the club this week. Attacking players Alex Steadman and Kieran O’Connell have left the club joining Loughborough Dynamo and South Normanton Athletic respectively.

Due to the last few days of rain, we will be carrying out a precautionary pitch inspection at 10.30am in view of the distance our opposition Pontefract have to travel. We are hopeful that the game will go ahead.

Yesterday the behaviour of some of our fans at the Loughborough game let themselves and the club down and may have serious repercussions for the club. Manager Gary Norton has added another to his squad with the signing of young forward Jordan Dodd. 18-year-old Dodd signs from Rocester FC where he was leading scorer so far this season and joins the Moatmen looking to see if he can make the step up to Evo-Stik level.

This afternoon we take on AFC Mansfield in a crucial game - 3pm Your support is needed so pop up to the Moat and get behind your local non-league side.

The Northern Premier League can confirm that AFC Mansfield will be relegated from the Evo-Stik League East Division at the conclusion of Season 2018/2019. Club officials accepted that the required ground grading criteria would not be met by the deadline of 31st March and tendered their resignation, along with a request to The Football Association to be placed at Step 5 of the National League System for Season 2019/2020. No further comment will be made.

Unfortunately, Sunday's planned Gresley Rovers / FC re-union game has been postponed until a date to be confirmed. Due to the unavailability of many of the ex-players we were hoping would be able to play, the decision was taken to re-plan the event sometime in August. However, the planned triangular tournament between Gresley Supporters Club, Burton Albion Supporters Club and a Stapenhill Vet side will go ahead kicking off around 1pm. The Social club will be open from noon.

Hi to all, we at the Supporters Club are trying to help with the pitch for next season. As we now have a 25% stake in the club, that figure seems a good thing to focus on. We are selling a grid of 11x11 squares totalling 121 to fans, businesses and groups who would help us raise money to improve our pitch for the 2019/20 season.

Gresley's fate will be decided this afternoon at Pontefract. Should they win and Carlton lose at Marske, then Gresley will retain their step 4 status.

Gresley FC u16's won their League Cup beating AFC Solihull 3-1 at Kirkby Lane Rugby. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Gresley Reserves clinched the Midland League Reserve Division title with a win against Cadbury Athletic 2-1. Both goals by Harry Lansdowne. This is the third consecutive season. Great effort by all involved.

After discussions last night, the Supporters Club have purchased 48 squares totaling £1200 and we've now sold 98 squares as of this morning and there's just 23 left at £25 a square. If anybody wants to buy one tomorrow, SC Chairman Stephen Shrive will be there or see Chunky who can take your money on our behalf. We can't do this without your help so once again thank you!

The final match on the Moat Ground for this season sees Gresley Reserves going for an unprecedented Triple Double as they take on Moors Academy Reserves kick off 3pm.

After three very successful seasons, Reserve team managers Richard Jarvis and Todd Foster have decided to step down.

Todd Foster & Rich Jarvis have stepped down as Gresley Reserves managers, their three seasons in charge, bought 3 Midland Football League Reserve Division titles & 2 Midland Football League Challenge Trophies to the Moat Ground.

The awards night will be held in the Social Club on Saturday 8th June starting at 7.30pm. Sponsors and volunteers welcome. Supporters are also welcome to join us, Admission is £5 which is a contribution to the buffet.

Gresley have been placed in the Midland League Premiier Division for the new season but there will be no local derbies with Loughborough University, Quorn or Shepshed as they have been moved to the United Counties League. We will however,play Long Eaton United and Heather St Johns. All allocations are subject to appeals.

Boss Gavin says work is already underway to prepare Gresley FC for next season.

Following the first Board meeting since the works on the pitch have been completed, we want to say a massive thank you to all the people who donated and/or gave up their time. We will now have a pitch to be proud of and enable better passing football to take place. The Board especially wants to thank Bryan McIntosh and his Adient workforce who have worked tirelessly on the project.

The Board have decided to offer free entry to any fan wishing to attend next Saturday's presentation evening (7.30pm) with just a voluntary donation as a thank you for their loyal support. There will be a buffet, a chance to meet players and management and to say a huge thank you to our outgoing highly successful reserve team managers

As Pre season preparations are fully under way, Big Congratulations to the 5 members of the Reserve team squad who have been rewarded for their hard work and fantastic performances in last season's title winning campaign. They have been called up by the management team to join the first team squad for pre season.

At the recent Presentation Evening Albert Lansdowne collected two First Team Awards Supporters'Player-of-the Season and Manager's Player-of-the-Season.
