Dave Hackett Charity Collection
With deepest regrets it's become clear recently that revered local legend Dave Hackett is suffering from a brain tumour.
Dave is well known at Gresley having been a part of the woodwork for as long as I can remember and myself, players such as Carl Slater and many more came through the ranks at Dave's TS Sports over the last 30 years. Dave also tragically lost his son Stephen a former regular at the Moat himself and teammate of mine back in the early 1990s and has worked hard to raise money for good causes. Alongside fellow coach Bob Barsby, who would keep us on our toes at training there is a weekend of events beginning on Friday 27th July at Newhall social club hosted by Dave's son Paul and Cath Alsobrook. People are doing the Brave the Shave event to raise funds and there will be other features that you can be a part of.On Saturday 28th prior to our match with Matlock Town, we will be holding a bucket collection from the Supporters Club and it's members towards this brilliant cause. Dave is responsible for hundreds of local lads getting an opportunity to play the game we love and I ask that you please dig deep for this cause.
Following this on Sunday 29th, there is a charity reunion match being played at the Moat Ground for which chairman Mark Alflat has generously donated the ground for the day to help raise money for this. We ask that you support this if possible too, it begins at 0945 and we will be handing over our collection funds to the Hackett family on this day. We massively appreciate anything you can do for this, one of our own deserves it more than anybody I can personally think of for what he has given to the community.
Kind Regards
