Two More Sign Up
Lucas Harrison and Ryan King are the latest players to have committed their futures to Gresley FC for the forthcoming Evostik league campaign.
Both were part of last season’s squad but for various reasons neither featured on a regular basis towards the end of the campaign although both played in the last three games of the season to help the club through the final games following the departure of previous manager. Assistant manager Carl Slater hopes both will play key parts in the upcoming season.
Commenting on the news Slater told gresleyfc.com “It’s great that both Lucas and Ryan have agreed to sign for the club again this season. Both are local lads who love the club but for various reasons seemed to lose focus or interest a little over the last season.
"When Gaz and I took over for the last three games both volunteered their services immediately to help the club finish the season and said if we were going to be managing the club this season they would sign. At that time the thought of being in charge this season wasn’t on the agenda for Gaz or I but once the club asked us and we accepted, Lucas and Ryan immediately gave us their commitment to stay with the club.
"Both have loads of ability and I’m really hoping fans will see the best of them both this season. I’m a good mate of Lucas’ off the pitch so I’m hoping I can help him push for the next level of performance. We know he has it in the locker and I’m looking forward to helping him reach the high standard Gaz and I expect from him”
Norton himself added. “We are buzzing that both Lucas and Ryan have signed. Both are very talented local players and I’m really looking forward to working with them both.
"Lucas is proven at this level already of course but I think with the right focus we can get a lot more out of him on the pitch and I’m really looking forward to working with him.
"Ryan has always been a player I’ve liked and I’m looking forward to working with him in the hope he can have a good season and fully realise the potential everyone can see in him for a sustained period”.
On further signings Norton added. “We have a number of exciting prospects who have either verbally committed to signing for us or who have agreed to come down to pre-season to see how things go which is positive news.
"However with us essentially rebuilding a team from scratch we wanted to try and get a number of players on forms before pre-season starts and we are meeting some of those potential signings over the coming days and will do our best to keep supporters updated on developments”
