Stocksbridge PS Pre-Match News
Gresley take on Stocksbridge Park Steels tonight in their first home league game of the new campaign hoping to bounce back from defeat at Brighouse in Saturdays opener.
Stocksbridge also lost on Saturday going down 4-2 at home to AFC Stamford so both teams will be looking to get some points on the board tonight.Manager Gary Norton will be hoping the Gresley faithful turn out in force in tonight’s game eager to demonstrate the returned energy and enthusiasm that has returned to the club over the summer months. He commented, “ We are really hoping to see as many people at the game as possible tonight to underpin the feeling we have had throughout the summer that everyone connected with the club on and off the pitch has pulled together.
"It’s a difficult one to gauge with it being a midweek home game but I’m hoping for a good crowd tonight to get behind the team win, lose or draw during this transitional phase for us. The true test for me will be in our first Saturday home game in couple of weeks against Tadcaster when I’m really hoping we can get around the 300 mark for that game but some of that will of course depend on our performances over the next 3 games against Stocksbridge tonight, Sutton Coldfield in the FA Cup on Saturday and Belper Town on Monday.”
Gresley add Kieran O’Connell to Saturday's squad after missing Saturday's opener through a family commitment but the popular striker will need a niggling foot problem he has been carrying through pre-season assessing before being confirmed in the squad.
Also fellow forward Kane Lee is struggling with the dead leg that forced him off the pitch in the second half of Saturdays game and will also be assessed before the game.
