As Pre season preparations are fully under way, Big Congratulations to the 5 members of the Reserve team squad who have been rewarded for their hard work and fantastic performances in last season's title winning campaign. They have been called up by the management team to join the first team squad for pre season.
Ryan Clemson -Defender McKlane Durdey - Full Back/Winger
Zakim Evans - Midfielder
James Harrison - Striker
Harry Lansdowne - Full Back/Winger
We caught up with Manager Gavin Hurren to discuss his decision for the boys call up.
“I am massive believer in the development of young players and if they are good enough they’re old enough. I was given a chance at the Nottingham Forest Academy and this helped me to develop and grow and the experience gained from playing and training around the first team was massive.
"It was an immensely proud moment for me but gave me in sight of what was needed to be a professional footballer in a first team environment. I knew when I took over that Gresley FC have a fantastic Reserve team and youth set ups and this was a huge reason for me joining the club.
Speaking with Matt and Rick we decided on the 5 lads who have been selected to join the first team for pre season. I wish all the boys the best of luck it’s fully deserved, myself and the team can’t wait to get working with the guys to help their development, I also want this to show the other young players within the Gresley set ups that they have a manager and management team who is willing to give them a chance.”
