Ins and Outs At The Moat
Two players have decided to leave the club this week. Attacking players Alex Steadman and Kieran O’Connell have left the club joining Loughborough Dynamo and South Normanton Athletic respectively.
Both players have found themselves out of the starting line up in recent weeks and both have this week informed manager Gary Norton of their intention to move on to other clubs. The club wish both players well going forward.

On the incoming side former Gresley FC player, and until recently Hinckley AFC manager, James Jepson has joined the club. Jepson took over as Hinckley manager earlier this year and brought his side to face to Moatmen in a pre-season friendly game at the Moat Ground but resigned from his post last week citing that he had felt that his position had become untenable. This week manager Gary Norton moved to sign the 36 year old former favorite who will go straight into Saturdays squad to face Pontefract Collieries at the Moat Ground (3pm).

Norton has also temporarily secured the services of another former Moatman in Jordan Nadat. The pacy front runner played and scored against Gresley earlier in the season for Sutton Coldfield Town in the 3-0 FA cup defeat but has recently been playing for Walsall Wood in the Midland football league helping them to their current 3rd place position. Nadat was sent off last Saturday in an FA Vase game in a 3-1 away defeat to Sporting Khalsa but, whilst suspended for Walsall Wood, is eligible to play in Step 4.

Commenting on this week’s ins and outs Norton commented, “We are disappointed to see both Alex and Kieran leave the club and wish them well going forward. Both are really nice lads but for one reason or another haven’t been happy with their football lately and have decided to move on.

"From my perspective it’s been on the cards to some extent I could see neither of them had been happy at being left out of the side recently which I guess is understandable to an extent as everyone wants to play in every game. With Alex and Kieran leaving it will provide opportunities for others to step up in particular Callum Riddell who started and scored at Marske last week.

"We had been using him sparingly to manage a knee problem, he’s now chomping at the bit for a start having had some fine performances from the bench and did well on Saturday despite lacking a little match fitness. In some respects it’s up to him now to ensure he takes his chance.”

In terms of the new signings Norton commented, “Even though we are not short in central midfield Carl and I felt the opportunity to sign James once we knew he was available was too good to pass. He left Hinckley as their manager last week and has no plans at all to get back into coaching or management at this stage.

"We got chatting at Sundays charity game and he just wants to play at the moment and we are pleased he has agreed to come here and help us out. Even though he’s not coming in on the coaching or management side he’s had the taste and knows what it’s like on that side of things now which is good and will also bring with him a wealth of potential playing contacts. In his past spell here, he was excellent for me in the dressing room and he will be a positive influence on the younger lads in the squad out on the pitch.

On Jordan Nadat Norton said, “Jordan will be with us for a short time having signed on dual forms from his club Walsall Wood and I’m appreciative of Woods manager Darren Byfield for agreeing to help us out.

Jordan was sent off on Saturday and so is suspended for them but having been confirmed by the FA that he would be eligible to play for us at step 4 we are signing him to help us out over the next few weeks as we are a little light on attacking options following Alex and Kieran’s decisions to move on. This arrangement works for both clubs and also Jordan in the short term and allows us a little time to identify someone else we can bring in to fill the void."
