So, it has been agreed that Saturday's Derbyshire Cup game against the Derby Singh Brothers be switched to the 3g pitch at Pingle School, Coronation Street Swad. Kick off 2pm.
The club house will be open after the game for players, officials and supporters.

The club are sad to report that former Gresley Rovers' defender Steve Essex passed away peacefully on Saturday evening after a long illness.
Everyone at Gresley send our deepest condolences to Steve's family and friends at this sad time.
At tonight's Midland Football League AGM, Gresley were officially accepted into the Premier Division.

Reg Shorthouse - The club have been informed that Reg has suffered a stroke but is feeling okay but with obvious difficulties.

Gresley play their first pre-season game tonight when the travel to the TRICO stadium to take on Southern League Central outfit Redditch United (kick off 7.45pm).
United finished in 15th place in the step 3 league so, it should prove to be a stern test for Gavin Hurren’s fledgling side.

Gresley FC will face Dunkirk away in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie to be played Saturday 10th August 2019,
The winners will then host Step 4 giants Sutton Coldfield Town in the next round.
BuildBase FA Vase First Qualifying round will see Gresley FC host Winsford United with the tie to be played Saturday 31st August 2019.
Gresley face a tricky game for their first game of the new season with a trip to Walsall Wood on the opening day 3rd August.
This game is followed by another away trip on Monday 5th August as they visit Romulus.
Gresley's first home league game will be on the 17th August when they host Tividale.

After discussion between Gresley manager Gavin Hurren and Melton Town manager, former Moatman Tom Manship, it was agreed that tomorrow’s (Thursday) friendly be cancelled.
Gavin spoke to the club website and explained “with a small squad and a few slight injuries it would be best to give the lads a night off. We still have a game on Saturday and then three games next week. Melton had a game last night so Tom agreed it was the right decision for both teams”.

Been a first tough week in the Midland Football league and with playing two games in 3 days against two of the top 5 sides tipped for promotion both away has shown how difficult the league we have gone into is. But we all go again Tomorrow away at Dunkirk in the FA Cup.
Our secretary Ian Collins has just received notification that tomorrow’s (Tuesday) Emirates FA Cup replay against Dunkirk FC has been postponed subject to FA investigation regarding Dunkirk FC.
After an FA Cup investigation into the recent Dunkirk vs Gresley FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round game which ended in a draw, Gresley have been awarded the tie and will now welcome Sutton Coldfield Town in the Preliminary Round next Saturday 24th August - 3pm.
Gresley have been drawn at home in Round 1 to Graham Street Prims. Sceduled for Tues 10th September - 7.45pm.
The winners will be at home in Round 2 against New Mills.

The trio of Dan Crane, Dave McDermott and Daryll Thomas took caretaker charge of the team for Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Sutton Coldfield but Crane has been allowed to leave to join Bedworth United whilst Thomas, who got married on Friday, is now away for a couple of weeks on honeymoon.

The Gresley FC board are very pleased to announce that Dave McDermott has been appointed as the new manager. With the recent spell of wet weather, it was decided to have a precautionary pitch inspection and the game is on.
We have had several people asking about Mark after he suffered an horrendous face injury during yesterday's game.
Because the deep cut was near to his eye it was glued rather than stitched.
The face around his eye is very swollen at the moment but he is hopeful that he will ready to play again very soon.

Due to a waterlogged pitch, tomorrow night's Youth game against Shepshed Dynamo at the Moat has been postponed.
We have been notified by Kane that he has received the results from his recent knee scan and unfortunately he has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.
He is in good spirits and ready to get through this and come back stronger next year.

Tomorrow's Reserve Team game at the Moat against Redditch United has been postponed due to a problem with one of the floodlight pylons.
Due to Sporting Khalsa winning their FA Vase game so into the next round, we will now be playing Coventry Sphinx on Saturday 30th November at the Moat not Tuesday 3rd December as announced previously.

It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of long time Gresley supporter Doreen Fox.
Doreen was a familiar face at the Moat along with her husband Tony.

Following this afternoon's deluge and rain over night, there will be a precautionary pitch inspection tomorrow morning at 10.30 am.
After a precautionary pitch inspection today's game at the Moat against table toppers Walsall Wood is ON.
Our best wishes for a full recovery to Reserve Team player Kyro Sharpe who has suffered an ACL injury.
He will have a MRI scan on Wednesday to confirm but early indications show that it’s looking like 12 to 15 months out for him.
Reserve team manager Ricky Adams said: "Kyro has been a massive part for us this season and we are gutted for him."
There will be a pitch inspection at 4pm prior to our home game against Sporting Khalsa.

Due to the persistent wet weather both the First Team game at Coventry and the Reserve Team game at the Moat are off due to waterlogged pitches.
The club are holding a Race Night on Saturday 21st December starting at 6pm. There will be 8 races and the cost is £5 which includes a finger buffet.

to help especially with the pitch, repairing after matches and mowing etc. Experience of maintaining a grass

Due to the recent few days of rain, today's game at the Moat against Selston has been postponed. Last night there were areas of standing water and although they have now gone the pitch is too wet to play and will not dry out enough by kick off.

It is with great sadness that we report the death of one of Gresley Rovers' greatest managers, Frank Northwood aged 87-years.
Frank will always be remembered for the West Midlands titles he won and taking Rovers to Wembley in the final of the FA Vase in 1991.
Our deepest sympathies are with his family and friends at this sad time.
By mutual agreement and with immediate effect David McDermott has been relieved of his management responsibilities at Gresley Football Club. The low points tally and the last two performances have led the Gresley Board to act.
Mark Alflat, Gresley Chair, announced that Gary Norton will take charge of the first team whilst options going forward are considered. Alflat said: "I want to thank Dave for his efforts and wish him well for the future but given our situation a change in approach is required."

Gresley FC are delighted to announced two new additions to the club this week. The popular Cameron Steele returns to the Moat ground from neighbours Stapenhill whilst Regan Upton has also this week completed the switch to join the club from Atherstone Town.

Ryan King has returned to the club after completing a transfer from neighbours Stapenhill FC. King was with the club early last season and had a very promising start to the season before a knee injury set him back.
Gresley FC would like to welcome experienced defender Henry Eze to the club after his arrival was confirmed this evening for the remainder of the season. The 34 year old will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game at South Normanton Athletic. Henry's former clubs include Stamford, Kettering, Kings Lynn and Solihull Moors amongst others.
Further to the communication of yesterday regarding the Coronavirus crisis, and following the Premier League and EFL deciding to pause the season until April 9th the MFL have taken advice from the FA who informed us today that it is each League’s decision as to what approach it wishes to take, so each league at Steps 5 & 6 will do what it believes best for its member clubs.

Gresley FC can announce that caretaker manager Gary Norton has agreed a deal to bring the former Evesham United management team of Carl Abbott and Paul Tomlinson to join him at the Moat ground until the end of the season.
Due to Worcester City having several first team players in self isolation due to suspected Covid 19, tomorrow's game at the Moat Ground has been postponed.
Junior Smikle becomes the latest addition to the Gresley FC squad as the new caretaker management duo of Gary Norton and Carl Abbott look to add more quality and depth to the squad ahead of the remaining 12 games of the season.
34-year-old Smikle has signed from Abbott’s former club Evesham United and can operate in a number of positions in defence or midfield and adds not only quality but versatility to the current Gresley squad. As well as Evesham his former clubs include Kidderminster Harriers, Cheltenham Town, Hereford United, Altrincham, Stourbridge, Rushall Olympic and Sutton Coldfield Town.
The Leicestershire Midweek Floodlit Youth League have also suspended all games until further notice.
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement earlier this evening the Board of the Midland Football League have taken the decision to suspend all fixtures from midnight tonight until further notice.

We have been officially informed by the FA that the 2019/20 season has been terminated with immediate effect.
All results will be expunged from the record books.

Unfortunately, we do not know when the new season will begin, hopefully as near to the usual date as possible, but the club has to plan ahead.
