We are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Joe Fryatt will be remaining with Rovers for the coming season 21/22. Joe is a top young stopper and developing all the time. Coming off the back of some really good performances in the recent tournament, we are excited to see Joe further develop in the coming season!

Rovers are really pleased to add young forward Charlie Stanton to our squad for the new season. Formerly with Cheltenham Town, Charlie is now adjusting to life in non league football and we are happy to give him the platform here at Rovers to show what he can do.

Gresley Rovers will begin this season’s Emirates FA Cup campaign on Saturday 7th August in the Extra Preliminary Round. The winners will receive £1,125 and the losers £375. In the Buildbase FA Vase, Gresley will begin on Saturday 11th September. The u18’s start the FA Youth Cup week commencing 30th August in the Preliminary Round. Draws for all competitions are scheduled for Friday 9th July.

We start our pre-season friendlies next week so why not pop up and support your local team. Please remember that Covid 19 restrictions still apply. Adults £5, Concessions £3 and u16's £2.

Two players have left the club. Charlie Stanton and Joe Fryatt.Charlie did not appear in a game since signing. Joe has decided to leave and we wish him well for the future and thank him for his time spent in a Rovers Shirt. We welcome into the club is experienced goalkeeper Lewis Fenny. Lewis has many games under his belt playing for Cambridge United, Leamington, Barwell and Boldmere St Michaels.

Delighted to confirm the addition of central midfield player Billy Howard to Rovers squad for 21/22 season. Formerly of Quorn and Evesham United, Billy knows the management well, and is a talented young player who will add physical strength and energy to our midfield.

Unfortunately tomorrow's planned friendly against Lichfield City has had to be cancelled. The next first team game is sheduled for next Saturday against Loughborough Dynamo.

Gresley Rovers begin their Emirates FA Cup journey at home to Midland Premier League Bewdley Town scheduled for Saturday 7th August. The winners will be at home Leek Town on Saturday 21st August. In the Buildbase FA Vase Rovers are at home to Dudley Sports in the second-round qualifying scheduled for Saturday 11th September. The winners will face either Winsford United or Stapenhill away. Rovers’ u18’s face Alfreton Town in the FA Youth Cup at the Moat Ground scheduled for week commencing 30th August. The winners of that game will travel to either Anstey Nomads or AFC Mansfield.

Two new additions as squad really begins to take shape… Firstly highly rated attacking midfielder Darious Darkin joins the Roverlution. Young professional with Aston Villa who played in an FA Youth Cup final, before playing in non league with Bromsgrove, Hinckley, Halesowen Town, Redditch United, Market Drayton Town and Quorn. Second new addition is 17 year old Kelvin Kasongo who was spotted playing for Allexton New Parks u18’s against our own u18 side at the end of last season. Kelvin is an attacker and has exceptional ability, and we are really excited to have him, and see how he fares at the higher level.

Rovers are pleased to announce that two local lads, Connor Ward and Cameron Steele have signed for the new season.Remaining with the club for the new campaign is versatile midfield man Connor Ward. Ever popular in the squad and with supporters, Wardy is a local lad and a Rovers fan at heart, and exudes this in his performances where he can always be relied upon to leave everything out on the pitch. A valuable addition to our squad. We are happy to welcome local lad Cameron Steele back to Rovers for the new season. Cameron was with Stapenhill last season. A versatile player who will add depth and quality to our squad.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we travel to Loughborough Dynamo for our first Pre-Season Friendly - kick off is 3pm. Admission £5 adults, £3 concessions and under 12’s free.

On Monday 19th July, as part of the next step of the Government’s roadmap out of national lockdown, there will be further changes to the restrictions on football.

Fixtures for the new UCL campaign have been released. Rovers make arguably their longest trip of the season on Easter Saturday 16th April with a visit to the seaside as they take on Skegness Town A visit to Long Eaton United on Easter Monday 18th April should hopefully be the last game of the season. Christmas fixtures see Long Eaton United visit the Moat Ground on the 28th of December followed by a short trip to Heather St Johns on Monday 3rd January. The season kicks off at Heanor Town on Wednesday the 4th of August. All fixtures are subject to change.

Rovers play their final pre-season friendly tomorrow (Saturday) with a visit to Butlin Road to face Rugby Town. On Wednesday Rovers begin their new league campaign with a trip to Heanor Town - kick off 7.45pm

Rovers ended their friendly programme with a draw at Rugby Town. Oli Bailey gave the visitors the lead early in the first half but the home side levelled five minutes later. Anyone who purchased a season ticket last season the board have agreed to exchange it for a new one free of charge due to the interuption by COVID 19. Just bring your old season ticket to the office. Rovers make the trip over the border to Nottingham for their second away game of the new season on Tuesday when they play Newark - 7.45pm. It should be noted that Newark now play their home games at the home of Basford.

Gresley Rovers were UCL Premier Division North Team of The Month for September. Rovers won all their games during the month including an emphatic 7-0 win the the FA Vase. The team scored 25 goals and conceeded just 5. Congratulations to Carl, Paul and all the players.

It is with great sadness to learn today of the passing of our first team player Jack Gallagher. We have been informed that Rovers Legend Bobby Liddle sadly passed away yesterday. For those of us of the more mature age will remember Bobby as a prolific goal scorer scoring 143 goals in 304 games during the late 1960's and mid 70's. His details can be found in our player database.

Manager Carl Abbott has added to his squad by signing local lad James Harrison on an initial months loan from Bedworth United, and we thank Stuart Storer for his assistance in this. James is a forward who was a first year professional with Burton Albion, before playing in the Southern League with Coleshill Town and Bedworth United. Welcome to the club James.

Gresley Rovers FC have this morning been informed by the United Counties league that Saturdays home league game (11th Dec) against Boston is postponed due to Boston informing the league they are unable to field a team. The club were first informed that Boston could not field as side on 11th December by the league a few days ago and this morning official confirmation of the postponement has been received from the league. Director of Football Gary Norton speaking to Gresley’s website this morning added: “Gresley Rovers Football Club will not be commenting on this matter further at this stage and the matter is in the hands of the UCL other governing bodies to deal with appropriately.”

Resulting from a recent disciplinary League meeting, Boston's failure to play their away game at the Moat in December has resulted in 3 pts being awarded to Gresley, The game will not now be played. This is of course subject to any appeal.

Due to an error, the incorrect date was published by the league. The Anstey away game should have been the 1st March and not 1st February.

Last year we raised some funds to support player Ryan King’s ACL surgery on both knees. Once we realised the costs involved Ryan decided to wait for his surgery via the NHS and we (in collaboration with those who made donations) took the decision to put the money raised towards supporting his post surgery recovery...

We are sad to report that former player John Keith Smith sadly died on 15th January 2022. John's funeral will take place at Bretby Crematorium, Carnarvon Chapel on Wednesday 16th February 2022 at 14:15pm. Our condolences go to John's family and friends at this sad time.

There is to be a pitch inspection at Anstey within the next hour. So should be around 12 noon. We will let you know the outcome as soon as we have it.

We have just been informed that the game at Anstey tonight has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The two recent postponed fixtures have been re-arranged. We will now play Selston on Wednesday 30th March (7.45pm) and Anstey Nomads on Tuesday 5th April (7.45pm).

Due to a waterlogged pitch, tonight's Youth Team game against Loughborough Dynamo Juniors at the Moat Ground has been postponed.

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Gresley legend Barry 'Gunner' Fitchett on 3rd March aged 80 years. Barry was a hard tackling half back scoring 137 goals from 567 appearances during the the late 1960's and 70's. Everyone at Gresley send their deepest condolences to Barry's family and friends.

2021/22 has been a great season for Gresley Rovers, regardless of the results in the final few matches. Having suffered for a while, we were given a glimpse of the future last season in the curtailed year and this year it has really built into a special feeling around the club again, with Abbo and everyone on the playing and coaching staff really connecting with the fans and the crowds having returned again. more....

Rovers make their longest trip of this league campaign on Saturday as they travel to the seaside to take on Skegness Town (3pm). Yet another important game and your support would be appreciated. Not going, then the Reserves are at home against Solihull Sporting (3pm).

The league title has come down to just one match. Tomorrow sees both Rovers and Long Eaton battle it out for the championship title at the home of United. Your fabulous support is vital as we try to finish the season in style. Come on, you can do it.

It is with sadness that we have to report the death of long time supporter Howard Winfield. Howard has been a Rovers supporter for over 40 years and our thoughts are with his wife Rita & family at this sad time. R.I.P.

The funeral of the late Howard Winfield will be held at Bretby Crematorium on Monday 9th May at 12 noon.

The club are really pleased to confirm we have reached agreement with Alex Morris and Mason Frizelle to extend there deals and stay with Rovers for 22/23. A great start to preparations for the new campaign!
