The Supporters' Club have taken the decision to end their bonus ball game (Separate from Chunky's one which will continue) - This will be replaced by a 100 club.
It's with very heavy hearts that the club reports the sad news that Jamie Barretts wife Leanne passed away this morning after her amazingly courageous battle with lung cancer.
Due to his magnificent service to our club Gresley Rovers/ FC over the years the club has become part of Jamie's extended family and so we send our love and sincerest condolences to both Jamie and all his family. We are all here for any need he may have.

Chairman Mark Alflat and his board of directors are delighted to announce that Gresley Rovers are back in non-league football.
Striker Paul Sullivan has been named as captain for when the new season starts.
Paul played four games for us at the beginning of last season before moving to Evesham.
The government has decreed that everyone will have to wear a mask or face covering on public transport and from the 24th July in all shops.
As well as the signing of Paul Sullivan last week, joint managers Carl Abbott and Gary Norton have announced futher signings as they begin to buld their squad.
The FA have released the constitutions of the leagues and for Gresley Rovers there is no change. We remain in the Midland Premier League. However, as things stand the league will be playing with just 19 teams.
This allocation is subject to confirmation
The Midland Premier League has issued information that all Divisions will commence League fixtures on Saturday 5th September 2020.
All entrants into the ground for any fixture will be required to give contact details for track and trace purposes.
The Gresley management continue to build their squad with the signing of two more. Moat Ground favorite Joe Haines is joined by midfielder Lee Butler.

Mark will be out of action for a while. Last week he had a stroke completely out of the blue despite being otherwise fit and healthy. He has said he does not want sympathy and that he will try every day to improve and get back to the person he was. He said "I am a fighter and that will help. Thankyou for your support.~

Four good local talents have signed again for Rovers. Lucas Harrison, Ben Allsop, Jake McIntosh and Connor Ward have all committed for the new season.

For this season Adult season tickets are reduced to £105 as an appreciation to the early end of last season. The concession season ticket is priced at £70. Under 16 season ticket will be £15 if accompanied with an adult season ticket holder. Please note FA and League Cup games are not included.

The FA have release the list of teams accepted into the FA Cup for season 2020-2021 and Gresley Rovers have been accepted. The extra preliminary rounds are scheduled for Tue 1st September (Covid permitted), and the early draws released on Tue 18th August.
There has been a fixture change. The away visit to Shepshed Dynamo has been cancelled and we will now be playing at home to Heanor Town on Thur 27th August - 7.45pm kick off.

A Fans Forum will be held in the Club House on Thursday August 20th starting at 7.30pm. The forum will provide a summary of off field activities including Covid preparations, but more importantly a chance for the new Management to give their thoughts on the squad and new season.
The Midland Football League have released the first fixtures (subject to changes due to Covid restrictions).
Rovers begin their new season at home on Saturday Sept 5th to Racing Club Warwick. Followed by a long midweek trip to Stourport Swifts on Tues 8th Sept.
The Gresley Rovers face masks are available from tomorrow (Sunday). Matt Wildsmith will be at the Moat Ground between 11 and 12 noon for collection and payment.

Gresley Rovers begin their Emirates FA Cup journey at home to uhlsport Hellenic League West side Wellington FC scheduled for Tuesday 1st September. The winners will be away to either Hanley Town or Lye Town on Saturday 12th September.
As you may have heard, non-league football clubs can begin to admit spectators from Saturday 22nd August.
At step 5, we are limited to just 150 spectators until the end of August which will include a proportion of away visitors. So, it will be first come first served for Rovers supporters.

With Gresley’s pre-season having come to a close at the weekend, Rovers begin their FA Cup journey at home to Wellington tonight (Tuesday).
It is with sadness that we have to report the recent death of former secretary and great supporter of the club Peter Jenkinson. Peter was secretary for many years and will be remembered by many of the older supporters.
Our deepest condolences go to his wife Margaret, friends and family.
If you are planning to visit the Moat you can help us to help you. We have to take your name and contact number to comply with the Track & Trace. So, to to prevent as much of a delay as possible on entry to the ground, we are asking you to jot your name and number on a piece of paper before you arrive and to hand in at the gate. You will then only have to have your temperature taken and pay or show your season ticket or sponsor pass. Thank you.
The club are please to announce the signing of Regan Upton. Regan is a 24 year old Burton based central defender who can also play in midfield. The former Wolves U23 Captain and Tamworth player is the final piece of the jigsaw in the squad ahead of the league campaign kicking off this weekend.

Tuesday's game at Stourport Swifts has been postponed due to reasons beyond our control. A new date will be arranged.
Midfielder Liam Kavanagh has left the club in search of regular football. The midfielder impressed in pre-season training and game but has decided to look elsewhere in order to try and get more pitch time. The club wishes Liam all the best for the future.

Cameron Steele has left the club to return to former club Stapenhill FC in search of regular football. The club wish Cam all the best for the rest of the season.
In other news Regan Upton joins Jake Macintosh in a “duel form” loan agreement with Graham St Prims to get some games in as he looks to regainmatch fitness following a few injuries in pre season that meant he didn’t feature in any of Rovers pre season games.

It has now been confirmed that the Buildbase FA Vase game due to be played at Coventry next weekend has now been re-scheduled to be played at the Moat Ground next Saturday 10th October with a kick off at 3pm.

Gresley Rovers have been draw away in the Buildbase FA Vase 1st Round Proper to North West Counties Premier side Congleton Town with the match scheduled for Saturday 31st October - 3pm.
This means the Sporting Khalsa fixture scheduled for the same day will now have to be re-arranged.

Callum Riddell has returned to the club after agreeing a transfer from Stapenhill FC. Callum is an exciting attacking player who will fit in very well to the existing squad and the management team are delighted to have Callum join the club. Callum is cup tied for Saturdays game in the FA Vase but will go straight into the squad for next Tuesday nights home league game against league leaders Sporting Khlasa
Also joining the Roverlution is Oli Bailey who has come to live locally. Oli joins us from Winchester City where across the last three seasons he scored 57 goals at step 4. He has also played for Southampton, Swindon Supermarine and Gosport Borough. Rovers are very pleased to welcome him to the club. He made his debut against Romulus.

Your place on the list we be available at the gate until 2-30pm after which it will be made available to other spectators.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing floodlight problems at te Moat Ground, Tuesday's home game against Sporting Khalsa has been postponed.

As you may have all read on social media, the FA held a meeting on Thursday evening, which myself and the Chairman attended, where the proposed restart of competitive football at our level on 2nd December was discussed.
The FA reiterated that their key object remains "to conclude the 20/21 season and achieve promotion and relegation as a result, either by completing all fixtures or rely on a mathematical equation."

The league have given clubs discretion on whether to play games over the festive period as long as both teams agree. AFC Wulfrunians have agreed to travel over to us on Saturday and spectators will be allowed in under strict conditions.
After an inspection this morning today's home game against AFC Wulfrunians is OFF due to a waterlogged pitch.
However, the club shop will be open from 1pm until 2pm this afternoon for any last minute stocking fillers.

Gresley Rovers would like to congratulate one of our stalwarts Lucas Harrison and his girlfriend Leah who announced their engagement today.
Very best wishes to them both from everyone at the club.
Walsall Wood have notified the club and the Midland League they have taken the option not to visit Gresley Rovers for the fixture on 5th January.
A new date will be arranged.
Unfortunately, our trip to Tividale tonight has been postponed due to frozen snow and treacherous road conditions around the ground.
Also, Boldmere St Michaels have taken the option to postpone our away game due to be played on 2nd January.
We are now in Tier 4 and so matches and training must now cease untl further notice. We will make sure that all information received from the FA and Midland Football League is posted as soon as we receive it.
In the meantime, please follow the guidelines and hopefully will be back at the Moat soon.

Following yesterday's Government announcement on the placing of the majority of MFL clubs into tier 4, this means all affected clubs cannot train or play matches. so the MFL Board have decided to suspend all league fixtures with immediate effect until 31st January 2021.
The MFL will continue to review the situation in line with further Government announcements and update us accordingly.

On behalf of the Gresley Board I want to wish the managers, coaches, players, volunteers and fans a very Happy New Year. Few of us will be sad to let the old year go. Rather than dwell on it let us look forward to getting rid of this nasty virus by the roll out of the vaccines. We can now see brighter times ahead so hang in there and be proud to be part of this great community football club.This year will see us progress both on and off the field best wishes.

On 31st December due to the national lockdown all fixtures were suspended until at least at least the 31st January.
The league board have now confirmed that due to the current restrictions not being reviewed until the middle of February that the fixturers will remain suspended until 28th February 2021 at the earliest...
Gresley Rovers Football Club, and everyone associated with it, are very saddened to learn that Colin Legate passed away this morning. Colin was known far and wide for his love of football and as well as his love for Gresley his other club was Woodville.
Colin was also know for being the "other half" of the Gresley Club raffle duo with the Club Chairman Mark Alflat.
Just before Christmas Colin was presented with a certificate and Club mementos to recognise all the work he has carried out at the Moat Ground over many years.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family brother Brian and sister-in-law Christine and all his many friends.

It is with sadness that we have to report the death of former Rovers winger Keith Fairbrother. Keith joined the club in August 1968 until May 1979 playing 370 games and scoring 26 goals.
Everyone at Gresley Rovers send their condolences to Keith's family and friends.

Colin's family wish to pass on their sincere thanks for the many cards, expressed sympathies and donations to the collection for Queen's hospital Burton.
Many mourners gave a round of applause outside Colin's home as the funeral procession departed. The service was football themed as befitted Colin's love of the game. Family flowers were in the club colours of both Woodville United and Gresley Rovers.
A lovely man who will be sorely missed.

The FA’s Alliance and Leagues Committees have now considered the large amount of data and information submitted by clubs across the National League System (NLS) Steps 3-6 as part of a survey to gather views on the continuation or conclusion of the 2020-21 league season, in addition to the information set out in the Government’s roadmap this week.
Gary Norton is to step down from his role of joint manager of Gresley Rovers FC with immediate effect to focus more on his role as director of football. The news comes after it was confirmed this week that the current Midland League season is going to be cut short due to the ongoing impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. More....

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of club stalwart Kath Southern this afternoon.
Many of you will remember Kath as joint social club steward along side her husband Harry and running the little tea bar during her 28 year association with the club.

The u18's play Hatton United on Wednesday at the Moat in a friendly but under current guidance no spectators are allowed into the ground. However, one player parent or guardian are allowed in.
Following the curtailment of the 2020/21 league season for Steps 3-6 of the National League System (NLS), our Alliance and Leagues Committees announced that they would consider the feasibility of undertaking the restructure at Steps 4-6 (which was intended to take effect from the 20/21 season but has been delayed due to the impact of COVID-19).
The past 12 months have been extremely difficult for all, with stresses in personal and business lives. Gresley Rovers won their second Don Amott Cup game beating near neighbours Ashby Ivanhoe.
A first half goal from Charlie Stanton gave Rovers a half-time lead but James Grouse equalised early in the second.
However, Kane Lee's late winner was enough to ensure a win for the visitors.

Congratulations to Daniel Jebbison on his first start and premier league goal for Sheffield United against Everton. Daniel was only with us for a short time at u15's level when he first arrived in England, and it's great to see a player like Daniel progress.

Gresley Rovers are delighted that local lads Kane Lee and Alby Lansdowne have committed for next season 21/22. Both have progressed through the ranks at our club and are a shining example to our young players that a pathway to the First Team exists at our club.
It is disappointing that we must say goodbye to two key players in captain Paul Sullivan, and central midfielder Lee Butler.

Some brilliant news for you Rovers fans this afternoon after the disappointment of Sully and Butts moving on..... delighted to announce that ‘Magic’ Dan Munday will be remaining with The Moatmen for 21/22 season.
Good news keeps coming, with the addition of powerful central midfielder Josh Burniston for the 21/22 season. Young, and exceptionally fit, Josh was a much coveted youngster and formally with Nottingham Forrest and Cambridge United. Welcome to the Moatmen Josh!
Another great addition to the ranks for 21/22 season is gifted attacking midfield player Brad Maslen-Jones. A young professional with Peterborough United before being snapped up by Premier League Hull City, Brad has a great deal of experience for his years having also played in non league with Rushall Olympic, Stratford Town, Coalville Town and Evesham United - where he was previously under contract with Rovers boss Carl Abbott. The management are really excited to link up with Brad once again and this is a real coup for the club.
We are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Joe Fryatt will be remaining with Rovers for the coming season 21/22. Joe is a top young stopper and developing all the time. Coming off the back of some really good performances in the recent tournament, we are excited to see Joe further develop in the coming season!
