Bryan McIntosh, who has temporarily taken the role of Chairman while Mark Aflat recovers from his recent illness. Bryan reported that Mark is recovering well but not ready as yet to resume his responsibilities within the club.Current owner and vice chairman, Pete Robinson, reported on the proposed new ground and indicated that things are progressing well and that he hopes to have an update in 3 months’ time.
The board are extremely happy with the response to the new/revised name and hope it encourages many fans to come back and support our local team. It was announced that Carl Abbott made a big point of bringing back the name when he was appointed to help the club move forward.
The board reported that the first step in their 3-year vision had been achieved with the name reverting back to Rovers. The next step will be to have the new ground and along with that what the club are hoping for, a Community Hub. This will introduce educational facilities etc.
It was explained that, along with many other non-league clubs and businesses Covid-19 has had a huge impact on Rovers. During the Pandemic we have worked extremely hard to introduce the Covid measures required and asked all supporters to observe them. Any questions should be directed to one of the Covid Task Group- Who are â€" Mark Hopkins, Bryan Mcintosh or Steven Shrive.
We are allowed, at present, to have 15% of our capacity in the ground. This means 120 Gresley fans and 30 Away Fans! For the moment supporters are asked to put a message on Facebook, Twitter etc. to book a place should they want to guarantee it. This may change in the coming weeks. As a club we thank you for your support!!
It was reported that the board had exceeded their sponsorship target by quite a margin due to very hard work by all those involved, and the club is very grateful of all their efforts.
