Martin took the reigns today because I was called upon to go with the reserves, because Dave was unavailable. So my report will be based on what I'm told happened from Martin.
We were away today to Lichfield City who are in the top few in our league, however they are the only team we've took a point off this season. We were under no illusions though that they are a good side, but our performances had improved over recent games.
Martin and myself had discussed things over the phone and opted for five in midfield leaving just one striker this being Hollis. We went with this to try to cut out their attacking options breaking from midfield. I was receiving
regular updates from Donna of which I thank her for, however the texts weren't good news!!. I think it was 2-0 down with only about 7 minutes gone?? so I knew we were struggling.
So it finished 6-0 and you'd think that there wouldn't be anything positive too say!!. Well as Martin and me have said: "Taylor started and did well and we had three 16 year olds in the squad". As you know it's about learning and that's hopefully what we'll do after today!! All the youngsters have proved week in week out that you're strong enough with the ability to match. It's hard to keep getting beaten (for ALL OF US) but you will benefit from the experience you're gaining. It's difficult also to accept some of the decisions that club "linemen" give but you do it in a great sporting manner proving more maturity than other teams who are old enough to know better.
Another point I'd like to mention is what great team spirit we have because you helped with the kit and Martin, something we are both proud of and appreciate, even when our dressing room got flooded wetting all our clothes THANKYOU ALL.
Heads up lads we move on from today and as always try
to improve next week against the very good Red Lion (who we know are not only good sports but also their manager who I hold a lot of respect for).
Keep it going lads and be proud like I am in you ALL.
