Played in our league cup semi-final and again were boosted by having Mat Holmes and Tom Gregory in the squad. We started quite brightly and, totally against the run of play went a goal behind, from a great strike. However for
the next 35 minutes we were well in control and, with two goals from Rich Hanslow and a Mat Holmes header, went in at half time 3-1 up and were cruising.
So we started the second half with a healthy lead and to be honest it was just as well because we never played anywhere like we did first half. We seemed to think we'd done enough to win and to our cost we found out the hard way!
They got back to 2-3 from a free kick just outside our area and they had all the chances, so it was no surprise, when with 10 minutes left they drew level. Then we were punished with a minute left to take them through to the
final.
So today I think we've got to learn from our self-inflicted downfall. We looked tired second half and they wanted it a lot more than us, so we've missed our best chance of a trophy today and I don't mind losing, but I'm
disappointed in the manner of which we lost. We all need to think what we could have done better and that includes me! So all we can do is put it behind us and show next game, in 2 weeks what we can do when we ALL try.
Heads up eh, because for our first year together we've done well but as we all know can do a lot better!
