Gresley Rovers vs Ridware Swifts

Gresley Rovers 8 - 2 Ridware Swifts

Scorers: Smith 3, Venning 2, Fletcher, Gee, Baum

Team: Stu Haywood, Danny Gee, Ben Kinson, Gaz Jones(c), Tom Gregory, Nath Venning, Tom Fletcher, Dean Acton, Rich Hanslow, Paul Morton, Chris Smith.
Subs: Olly Baum, Karl Whymark, Tom Allan

We started the game having beaten Ridware earlier in the season and to be honest we were unlucky not to gone ahead as early as the 5th minute, when Nath Venning headed against the bar from a corner. However Ridware went ahead when their pacey striker broke through to chip the ball over Stu. So again against the run of play we were behind but I knew that their lead would be short lived, and right on cue Chris Smith slotted passed their keeper from a narrow angle. Chris then put us two up when he hit a quality right foot shot giving their keeper no chance. Nath Venning made it 3-1 before half time when he met a cross to knock it into the net.

Second half we completely dominated the game with goals from Nath Venning, Tom Fletcher, Danny Gee, Olly Baum and another from Chris Smith to give him his well deserved hat trick. We swapped Dean Acton for Olly Baum then later swapped Paul for Karl Whymark and with 20 minutes to go swapped Rich Hanslow for Tom Allan??.

Ridware got a goal to make it 8-2 and Tom Allan, playing up front, was twice unlucky not to get on the score sheet hitting the post from a great strike.

Today again we showed how much we've progressed with another blistering performance and when you see how many different players have scored for us this season it shows just what strength in depth we have. We have asked players to play out of position and when they've done so have showed how flexible we are? Lets just keep it up lads because as we are seeing, the results follow!

Man of match: Tom Fletcher controlled everything in centre midfield, scored a goal and played some great defence splitting passes.
