Ridware Swifts vs Gresley Rovers

Ridware Swifts 0 - 2 Gresley Rovers

Scorer: Smith 2

Team: Tom Allan, Danny Gee, Ben Kinson, Karl Whymark, Gaz Jones(c), Nathan Holmes, Matt Holmes, Nathan Venning, Dean Acton, Rich Hanslow, Chris Smith
Subs: Stu Haywood, Mark Shorthouse, Tom Gregory.

Again with players unavailable and others injured spent most of Friday on the phone trying to get a team of 11 or hopefully more? This paid off with Ben Kinson signing for us and Chris Smith talking Tom Gregory and Mark Shorthouse into signing on the day.

We started the game bright from the start and dominated in every position, which was a pleasure to watch as we played great attacking football. With Nathan Holmes and Nathan Venning winning everything in midfield and the wide players Chris and Matt looking dangerous supplying some fine balls into Rich and Dean, only to be denied by some unlucky bounces and saves. Chris then had a chance at goal, which he took well and the deadlock was broken, which was well deserved. Chris then scored a great goal when he turned his player 20yards out to give their keeper no chance, to riffle the ball into the top
corner. That's how it stayed 2-0 at half time.

Second half we were forced into swapping Karl, who picked up an injury, for Tom and to be honest he fitted in along side Gaz and impressed with some good strong tackles. We then replaced Dean for Mark with 30 minutes left and again he came in and looked good winning some great headers and passing some quality balls to the lads up front. Our defence never really looked troubled all game and 2-0 is how it stayed.

On a positive note it's the first clean sheet this season and some of the passing football we played was of great quality. Another good thing was again no cautions, which again shows our discipline so well done all of you.

MOM Chris Smith 2 great goals with the work rate to match.
