Gresley Rovers vs Kidderminster Harriers

Gresley Youth 0 - 3 Kidderminster Harriers

Team: Tom Allen, Danny Gee, Adam Leniham, Olly Baum, Nathan Venning, Gaz Jones(c), Matt Holmes, Rich Hanslow, Pat Rowell, Jordi Gough, Chris Smith
Subs: Dean Acton, John Whetton, Karl Whymark & Stu Hayward

Started with a defensive formation, which worked well and contained Kiddy quite well considering they played 3 pacy strikers. We rode our luck a little at times but competed on every inch of the pitch and for every ball.

Tom Allen made some great saves and although they always looked dangerous in front of goal the defence held firm until 25 minutes when again Tom made a great save only for the rebound to fall at the feet of Kiddy a player so 1-0 down. Our heads never dropped and on an attack, searching for an equaliser, got caught on the break and were 2-0 down with 10 minutes to half time.

The wind and rain we were playing into first half dropped and once again started the second half looking quite comfortable. With 35 minutes left we swapped Chris Smith for John Whetton and still competed and battled only to get caught on the break again and went 3-0 down.

We swapped Rich Hanslow for Dean Acton and had our best chance when Whetton broke free only for their keeper to slide out of his box and handle the ball for which he was cautioned? Last 10 minutes we swapped Matt Holmes for Karl Whymark and 3-0 it stayed.

Thought every player was outstanding and showed great guts and determination again a credit to yourselves well done ALL of you!

Man of the match: Tom Allen kept us in it with some quality saves
