Gresley Rovers vs Solihull Borough

Rovers Reserves went down 4-3 on aggregate after drawing the 2nd leg of the
Challenge Cup Semi final 2-2 at the Moat ground.

Rovers, trailing 2-1 from the 1st leg had a set back as early as the 2nd minute
when Gaz Langford failed to deal with a high ball on the edge of the box which
allowed Alex Lobban the chance to fire home from 18 yards past Ian Roberts in
the Rovers goal. A further setback came on 35 minutes when Jim Lewsley was
carried off with a knee injury, Ryan Yearsley came on from the bench. Solihull
took a 2-0 lead on the night (4-1 on agg) in the 39th minute when Hollis slipped
past Paul Grosse to fire a shot that was well saved by Roberts, unfortunately
the ball dropped at the feet of Adshed and the Solihull forward had the easy
task of rolling the ball into the empty net.

Half Time: 0-2

Jon Jenkinson reduced the arrears on 79 minutes when he burst through the
Solihull rearguard to blast his shot past Ford into the net. 2 minutes later it
was game on after Danny Lonergan's wonder strike from 35 yards found the top
left hand corner of the Solihull net. Rovers pressed for the goal to take the
tie into extra time but despite going close a few time in the later stages, it
wasn't to be.
