Gresley FC vs Tipton Town
Gresley Reserves returned to action when they entertained Tipton Town Reserves at the Moat Ground.
Max Atkin returned in goal, Callum Porter come back in at left back, Connor Ward moved back into midfield where Zaki Evans also returned and top scorer Josh Dutton came back in also upfront.
After a fairly even opening the game was settled as Gresley scored three goals in nine minutes.
The first goal came in the 15th minute when Kane Lee broke free on the left hand side just inside the penalty box and his stinging shot was parried across the goal line and Zaki Evans was on hand to rifle into the empty net.
Four minutes later it was 2-0 when Lee again got free down the left channel and this time cut the ball back to Josh Dutton who side footed into the far corner.
On 24 minutes a third Gresley goal came when a corner from the right hand side was knocked up into the air and Sam Hammerton emphatically volleyed left footed into the bottom corner from just inside the penalty area.
Tipton managed to get a goal back before the break when a free kick from their left was punched away by Max Atkin but his clearance fell to a Tipton player who's weak long range shot crept into the corner as Atkin slipped on the heavy surface when about to dive
After the break it took the home only four minutes to restore their three goal lead when a lovely ball lofted over the Tipton defence by Connor Ward was pounced upon by Dutton who lifted the ball over the advancing keeper into the net.
In the 57th minute Zaki Evans got his second goal of the afternoon when he made space inside the box and curled the ball into the bottom corner with his left foot despite the keeper being at full stretch.
Tipton got the 7th goal of the game when they won the ball from high up the pitch after a sloppy pass and their striker was slipped in hit neatly finished across the onrushing Atkin.
Gresley's hard working Kane Lee got himself on the score sheet in the 84th minute after he had been blatantly pushed inside the box when attacking a free kick, the big frontman sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.
The final goal of the game came on 86 minutes when Sam Hammerton hammered home a rebound after Kane Lee's header was parried by the Town stopper.
The final few minutes saw a flurry of cards for both sides and Gresley's Connor Ward saw two yellows, the second for dissent.
