The Reserves traveled to Stafford to take on Brocton in the Challenge Trophy, the Badgers lay in second place behind Gresley in Group A.
Brocton started well in the opening five minutes keeping the ball well but not troubling the Gresley defence.
The Moatmen soon grew into the game and gained control quickly playing some fast entertaining football.
The opening goal came in the 8th minute when Kane Lee was released the right channel and his cross found Harry Lansdowne who managed to bundle the ball into the net via his head and knee.
Gresley were unable to add to the scoreline before the break despite a few decent chances to do so.
The second half began the way the first half had ended with Gresley looking more likely to score again, Kane Lee flashed a decent opportunity wide from an acute angle, Josh Dutton whipped a snapshot over the bar.
The second goal didn't come till the 71st minute when Zaki Evans played a lovely through ball into Josh Dutton's run, before Gresley's Reserves top scorer cut in onto his right foot and bent the ball round his marker and into the far corner leaving the keeper unsighted.
The remaining minutes of the game saw Gresley see things out and gain their first clean sheet of the season despite the home side hitting the outside of Alex Townsend's near post late on.
