After losing last week we went to Hinckley a little nervous knowing that they beat us twice last season by good margins. The team talk was to talk more and help each other a lot more than last week. So we started off and played a lot better than previous, and although Hinckley are a well organised side, we contained them in reasonable comfort most of the time. They always looked dangerous in attack, but not so composed in defence.
On the 20 minute mark, after some pressure, we conceded and we then started to play better with us linking some good passes together. However, with 35 minutes gone we conceded again, which was a real blow going into half time.
Second half we came out a different team; we passed the ball through midfield, and for the first time threatened their goal. We replaced the injured Andy Elliot for Tom Astle, and it was this that triggered some good attacking football. We then started to believe that we could actually get something out of the game. Hollis scored to make it 2-1 then Sebastian Kalinowski made his presence felt, sliding in from a corner to draw us level. This obviously gave us the momentum, but we never really capitalised, and although we made a few chances, they were not clear cut ones. Holmes came off injured and was replaced by James Manley with 15 minutes left, and soon after, Rich Hanslow replaced Tom Fletcher. With 7 minutes left Hinckley snatched the winner and 3-2 it stayed.
Today was a much better performance than last week, but we can still improve more. Things are not going to happen overnight though, so we need to be patient and keep up the good spirit and attitude that we've shown in the last two games. We have a young and relatively inexperienced side, so I'm not concerned about today as I have every confidence in the squad. We need to talk more on the pitch though and pass it around more, rather than go for the long ball like we did at times today. So lets keep believing in each other, with the encouragement to go with it, and I'm sure that WE WILL TURN LOSSES INTO WINS!!
