BROMSGROVE 0 - 5 ROVERS RESERVES (HT: 0:3)
The
Reserves recorded the league double over a poor Bromsgrove
side after beating them for the second time in two
weeks to ensure for the first time this season a First
/ Reserve team winning double. Dave King and Carl
Middleton appeared again on the road back to fitness
but the luckless Middleton limped out of the action
after 21 minutes after turning the ankle that has
troubled him in recent weeks. At that stage of the
game the lads were already 1-0 up thanks to a Justin
Tyrrell header in the 4th minute. Dave King almost
doubled the lead moments later, his shot from 12 yards
spectacularly saved at the foot of the post. King
again went close, this time heading wide when well
placed after a good centre from Kev Wagstaff. Neal
Bateman went close on 14 minutes; his header from
a Wagstaff corner was cleared of the line. Eventually
the pressure paid of and Rovers went 2-0 up after
another Wagstaff corner found Bateman again at the
far post and his unstoppable volley found the back
of the net giving the keeper no chance. It was all
Rovers and with Andy Cheetham in blistering form down
the left it was only a matter of time before Rovers
added another, Cheethams inch perfect cross after
another strong run found Dave King at the far post
to make it 3-0 on 32 minutes Perseverance from King
in the 69th minute set up Tyrrell for his second of
the game on 69 before Karl Hancox, on for the injured
Middleton sealed a fine win with a superb 25 yard
strike which found the top corner of the net.
