Hinckley Athletic vs Gresley Rovers

Saturday saw our second game of the season and our second away trip to Hinckley Utd in the league.

Midweek saw the departure of Tom Guiney and John Branch who have left in search of 1st team football and I thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.
With these departures, changes came with young Lewis Gadsby enjoying his first start since moving to Gresley from Burton Albion Youth Team in pre season, and the inclusion of Richard Harris amongst the subs.

We started the game brightly, but very soon started to get over run in the middle of the park, due to the hosts playing 5 across the middle, I decided to match their formation.
Within 5 minutes of the start Gadsby was unfortunately withdrawn due to and ankle injury and Harrison entered the game.

Towards the end of the half Hinckley were totally dominating us, we eventually went in at the break 2-0 down.
The half time team talk worked and for a good twenty minute spell, we took control with D.Rowe, who had been introduced during the early stage of the 2nd half along with Harris, hitting the wood work and we had a blatant penalty decision denied when Barker charged into the box, the hosts added two more after our non productive spell. We faded into obscurity over the last 20 minutes and eventually lost 4-0.

I’d like to thank Mr Leeson, Mr Pemberton and Mr Harrison for their continued efforts throughout the game, if it were not for those few the score may have been more.
Next week we visit Quorn, lets hope for better things and getting back to winning ways.
