Oadby Town vs Gresley Rovers
Rovers Reserves went down 3-1 at Oadby Town after being forced to play 88 minutes with 10 men after goalkeeper Brad Clarke had been sent off for a professional foul.
The night started badly for Rovers as Carl Eagling and Nathan Tate both failed later fitness tests just before kick off. Things got worse after only 1 minute 45 seconds when Clarke received his marching orders for bringing down Neal Edwards after the Oadby striker had closed down his attempted clearance from a Parkinson back pass.
Joint top scorer Ryan Yearsley went in goal and his first job was to pick the resultant penalty from the back of the net. Rovers were 2 down inside after 6 minutes and 3 down after 8 when Dave Fisher and then Brendon Davies capitalised on the confusion within the Rovers defence as they tried to reorganise.
To their credit Gresley went after the game and were unlucky to have a Carl Slater goal ruled out for offside just before the break.
The second half was dominated by Rovers as they pushed chased and harried Oadby all over the park. Stand in keeper Yearsley did not have a save to make as Rovers pushed to get back into the game.
Their efforts were rewarded but only in the form of a consolation Carl Slater goal on 85 minutes. Slater converted the rebound to his own penalty after an Oadby defender had handled Matt Browns effort at goal.
