Gresley Rovers vs Rushall Olympic

A depleted Gresley Reserves suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Rushall Olympic at the Moat Ground. Missing Carl Timms, Carl Slater, Matt Moran and James Parkinson, all on 1st team duty, youth teamers Richard Foster and Danny Foster came into the squad.

The 1st real chance in the game came to Rushall when the ball broke to Danny Mason to race through on goal but Brad Clarke reacted quickly and saved well with his legs.

Rovers almost opened the scoring on 22 minutes when a Sandar free kick was only parried by Chris Gemmer in the Rushall goal but the ball was cleared to safety before any Rovers players could react.

Nathan Tate found Yearsley in space on the left and he fed a good ball into the box but Pryce mis-kicked and the opportunity was lost.

A harshly awarded free kick against Nathan Tate wide left was punished when Neil Barnfield headed home unchallenged from 8 yards out.

A mistake by Danny Tyres let in Gleg but he shot over with only Clarke to beat. Jon Jenkinson went close on 34 minutes before Rushall had the chance to go 2-0 up when Clarke gave a penalty away for pushing. Gleg took the kick and hit it well but Clarke made amends with a superb save down to his right. Rovers conceded seconds before half time when Glegg was given time and space in the box to fire home.

Youth teamers Richard and Danny Foster came on at half time to join fellow youth teamer Nathan Tate in the defense.

Ryan Yearsley raced through on goal with Mykey Pryce in space but the ball got tangled up in his feet and the chance was lost.

Rushall completed the scoring on 57 minutes when sloppy defending enabled Woarus to score from close range. Tate hit the bar late on but that apart Rovers didn’t look like scoring.
