Shepshed Dynamo vs Gresley Rovers

Rovers Reserves recorded a fine 4-2 victory at Shepshed Dynamo to get back to winning ways in the ICIS Reserve Division.

Rovers played superbly all over the pitch and deserved the win but in particular Carl Timms in central midfield and Matty Moran playing on the left were outstanding for the whole 90 minutes.

A superbly rehearsed corner routine on 3 minutes had a confused Shepshed all over the place as Matt Moran ran the ball to the edge of the box before firing in a low cross for Paul Grosse to score from close range.

Rovers should have been 2-0 up a minute later when Mykey Pryce pounced on a Shepshed back pass to score past keeper Hibbard but the linesman unbelievably flagged for offside and the referee even more unbelievably disallowed the goal leaving everyone else in the ground baffled by the decision.

The much talked about Carl Eagling supplied Shepshed's equaliser after 7 minutes when he made space for himself on the right before crossing for Lee MgGlinchley to head home past Ian Roberts.

Trialist Ben Simpson slipped a neat pass through the Shepshed defence for Ryan Yearsley to score on 12 minutes. The goal continued his run of scoring in every game he has started this season.

Mykey Pryce achieved the same feat on 26 minutes when he was put through by Danny Tyres to round the keeper and slot home for 3-1 and keep his "golden" run of scoring going.

A minute later Matt Moran tore through the Shepshed defence with a mazy run and cut in from the left before firing a 25 yard shot past a bewildered Darryl Hibbard. Mykey Pryce almost made it 5-1 with an excellent volley that looked to be finding the top corner before Hibbard produced an outstanding save to tip the ball over the bar.

After the break, Shepshed came at Rovers but the defence marshalled by Parkinson and Grosse and supported by fullbacks Lonergan and Tate, protected Ian Roberts well and the only chances during the early exchanges of the second came from long range and Roberts handled them well.

Jenkinson and Sandar replaced Pryce and Yearsley on 66 minutes and it almost paid off immediately as Sandar found Jenkinson in space but he fired his shot straight at Hibbard.

Lee MgGlinchley scored a superb goal to make it 4-2 when he fired home from the corner of the Rovers box into the top corner of the net giving the unfortunate Ian Roberts no chance.

Matt Moran switched to the right and continued to terrorise the Shepshed defence. He beat 3 men on the right before chipping Hibbard with a cross shot but a Shepshed defender cleared off the line before Jenkinson could get to the ball. Greg Smith had a good chance to score from the edge of the box after Timms had found him in space but his shot was off target.
