Neil was member of Staveley Works Midland League Division championship and League Cup winning side and also won the Player-of-the-Year Award. He had two seasons with Matlock Town before joining Eastwood Town where he won Player-of-the-Year, two Midland League runners-up medals and five Notts Senior Cup medals. Moved to Sutton Town where he won a Player-of-the-Year award and a Northern Counties (East) League Cup winner's medal. With Gresley Neil won four Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medals, Banks's League Championship and League Cup winners medals and a league runners-up medal.
Neil was part of the FA Vase and won a runners-up medal in 1991.
