Richard was Club Captain. He was on Nottingham Forest books as a schoolboy and joined Chesterfield as an apprentice professional on leaving school.
Joined Boston before moving to Huthwaite where he won a Notts Senior Cup medal and a Player-of-the-Year Award.
Richard moved to Alfreton Town where he won a Derbyshire Senior Cup runner-up medal, playing against Gresley.
Voted Player of the Year 1988-1989,
Supporters' Player-of-the-Year 1989-1990; 1994-1995.
Players' Player-of-the-Year 1988-1989. 1990-1991.
Richard won three Derbyshire Senior Cup winners medals and Banks's League Championship, Banks's League Cup winner's and league runners-up medals.
Played in the Vase final at Wembley 1991.
