Bob made his debut on loan before signing September 1987.
Frank Northwood released Bob in January 1992 after a 2-3 defeat at Newcastle Town in the FA Vase. He re-joined Gresley in July 1992 under new boss Steve Dolby.

He was part of the Stoke Boys side that reached the finals of English Schools Trophy and for Stoke City's youth team before moving to Port Vale. Had two spells at Hanley Town and was a member of the side that won the Staffordshire Vase and did the Mid-Cheshire League Cup and Championship double, picking up the club's Player-of-the-Year trophy. He had two spells at Eastwood Hanley, winning a Staffordshire Senior Cup medal. With Welshpool he won a Welsh Intermediate Cup medal. At Gresley Bob won the Banks's League Championship medal, four Derbyshire Senior Cup winner's medals, a Banks's League runners-up medal, a League Cup winner's medal and a FA Vase runners-up medal.
Unfortunately Bob suffered a serious accident at work and can no longer play football.
