Final game for Gresley Rovers first team
v Hinckley United (h) 21st September 1929
George was born in Netherseal and died in Burton-on-Trent in 1971.
He was deemed not clever enough by the local Post after his Fosse outing at Bradford City in October 1918.
George was useful enough, however, to be borrowed by the Bantams when they paid the return visit to Filbert Street a week later.
A Leicester City trialist in August 1919, he then joined Coalville Swifts, Ashby Town (1920), Whitwick Imperial (1921) returning there after a brief stint with Nuneaton Town), Burton Town (1925), Wellington Town and Gresley Rovers (1928), while working at the coalface in Moira.
