During the War years 1939-1945 records are not reliable as many games and players were not published in the local press.
Also, players were called up and played as and when they were available.
These figures are based on the most reliable available.
Ted was called up for the army in 1940, and resumed his career afterwards playing for teams like Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He retired from the game in the late 1950s and led a quiet life in his home town of Gresley. A little known fact was that he was an excellent cricketer and his brother in law was cousin to one of the top Australian Cricket players at the time Keith Miller.
Ted sadly died in June 1990 aged 67 he was survived by his sister Noreen who died in 2000 and his niece.
