Ralph was injured during this game and never played for the club again.
An amateur with Leicester City, but a regular for Barrow Old Boys, when capped in 1951 by England Youth.
He then spent two years as a pro at Filbert Street without making a senior breakthrough, and numbered Brush Sports, Gresley Rovers, Morris Sports and Sileby Town (partly as player-manager) among his subsequent clubs. He was a self-employed plumber in Barrow.
Ralph died in Barrow-on-Soar on the 7th January 2010.
