Final game for Gresley Rovers first team
v Newhall Swifts (a) 24th April 1910
According to an report in an old Burton Football Mail Michael was an all round athlete. He won an 18 mile walking race from Church Gresley through Measham, Willersley, Ashby de la Zouch and back to Church Gresley.
He was also a medal winning amateur boxer, a champion quoits thrower, a member of a winning darts team and even a silver medallist at a local vegetable show!
He was also described as an expert in self-defence winning several cups and a watch.
In the summer of 1909 the area was besieged by a 'plague of flies' and Michael organised a scheme to rid Gresley households of the pests. Prizes were offered for the most thickly decorated flypapers and Causer reckoned that more than a million winged creatures probably met their deaths.
