Red-hot Rovers stay on the Wembley trail

Gresley Rovers face an FA Vase quarter-final trip to Harwich and Parkstone on March 2 after an astonishing 5-4 victory over Knowsley United on Saturday.
Trailing 2-0, 3-1 and in extra time 4-3, Rovers staged two dramatic comebacks to keep their Wembley dream alive to the delight of more than 300 South Derbyshire fans who made the 90-mile trip to Merseyside.Rovers boss Frank Northwood admitted afterwards: “I thought we were beaten when the game went into injury time – but we came back from the dead.
“It was a magnificent performance, though, and I felt we deserved to win. We’re in new country now – we’re in the last eight. We won’t start thinking about that until we’ve finished celebrating this one – but we’ve got to start believing we can go all the way.”
Knowsley boss Paul Orr sportingly confessed: “Gresley were fitted than us in the end and that made the difference. They’re a good side with some very good players. I just hope they go all the way and win it now.”
Harwich and Parkstone of the Jewson Eastern League now bar the way after a 3-2 extra time win on Saturday over another Merseyside club, Cammell Laird. The sixth round tie is scheduled for March 2.
