Off! Off! Off!

Sport around Burton is facing the bleakest weekend of the year so far as snow brings chaos to fixtures across the country.
Burton Albion’s Beazer Homes League clash with fellow Premier Division title chasers Gloucester City is expected to fall victim to the weather. The tie was virtually certain to be called off although the formality of an inspection of the Eton Park pitch was due to be carried out today.
Derby County’s First Division match with Norwich City at the Baseball Ground was called off this morning.
Norwich were due to travel down today but cancelled their plans. Now the match will be played on a date to be arranged.
Gresley Rovers were awaiting the outcome of an inspection of the Knowsley pitch at lunchtime today before knowing the fate of their FA Vase fifth round tie.
Rovers secretary Peter Jenkinson said: “It is very doubtful. The Knowsley people said the ground underneath was bad enough before they had the snow.”
Jenkinson added that the Football Association had agreed to a Friday lunchtime inspection which was scheduled for 12.30pm and a verdict expected at 1pm.
