Moat Ground assistant boss Steve Dolby has warned Gresley Rovers the crucial Christmas period could decide the outcome of the Banks’s Brewery Premier League.
He said: “We have got to keep on picking up the points. We are really hoping for a maximum tally over Christmas so that the lead we have will be extended.“It is not the first time we have been in this position and we must believe in ourselves and keep collecting the three-pointers.
“I thought we played as well as we needed to against Tividale, but we always had something in reserve.
“Oldswinford will, I think be similar opponents. They will come to defend and get a draw. We have the players to break down that sort of side, but they must prove their talents on the day.”
The Moatmen are still negotiating with Bedworth Town left-back Kevin Kane over a possible loan deal.
Dolby said: “If we can get a deal together there is a possibility he may play on Saturday. He is a good player and has a great turn of pace, exactly what we are looking for.”
Dolby said both he and box Frank Northwood are overjoyed with the impact new-boy Carl Rathbone had made to the side.
He said: “Carl might not have scored in the last two games, but he has played exceptionally well. Certainly Tividale will testify that he is a handful.”
