Gresley Rovers have completed the signing of former Tamworth striker Carl Rathbone from Beazer Premier club Bromsgrove Rovers – ending a lengthy chase for manager, Frank Northwood.
Rathbone, 26, stands by for his Gresley debut in the Banks’s League local derby against Rocester at the Moat Ground tomorrow (3pm).Northwood, who has been chasing Rathbone – a model maker in the motor industry – for several weeks, said: “It’s been hard work getting Carl from Bromsgrove but he’s a quality players who’s always done the business against Gresley – and I’ve seen him do it against many other clubs.”
Rovers’ only doubt tomorrow is striker Brian Beresford who has been suffering a migraine.
Rocester tonight hope to complete the signing of Newhall United midfielder Micky Woods, but have delayed naming him in their squad.
