Rovers play nursemaid

Gresley Rovers take advantage of another “rest” day in the Banks’s League tomorrow to nurse recently injured players back to full fitness.
With the first team idle because scheduled opponents Blakenall have a Walsall Senior Cup appointment, manager Frank Northwood takes full advantage of tomorrow’s reserve team clash against Malvern at the Moat Ground.Northwood plans to use the game to test the fitness of Stuart Stokes, Richard Denby and Brian Beresford, all of whom are only recently off the club’s lengthy casualty list.
The Moat Ground boss will be especially hopeful that midfielder supremo Denby comes through the test because he clearly looked short of match fitness in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Oldbury.
Striker Beresford, meanwhile, will be hoping to give Northwood a gentle reminder that he is ready for first-team action after coming on for the reserves last Saturday and scoring.
