Gaz Norton's Reserve team news
Gaz Norton with Alan Holmes
The Reserves came back from our 1st defeat of the season against Hinckley United in the perfect way with a fine 4-2 victory over Shepshed Dynamo last Saturday.
Carl Timms and Matty Moran were both inspirational against a side that the week before beat the league leader Boldmere St Michael’s. Goals from Paul Grosse, Ryan Yearsley, Mykey Pryce and Matt Moran were enough to get the 3 points. The goals for Ryan and Mykey kept both their runs going of scoring in every game they have started this season. The victory put us up to 3rd in the table, a point behind the top two with a game in hand.Last midweek saw us travel to Quorn in the 2nd round of the Challenge trophy. Rain throughout the day put the game in doubt but when Reserve team Secretary, Reg Shorthouse contacted Quorn at 4-15pm, the pitch was perfectly playable. However, at around 5-45 PM, the rain turned into a torrential downpour in Leicestershire and the Referee called the game off at 7-15pm, 30 minutes before kick off.
I’ve been busy trying to secure some additional sponsorship for the Reserve team over the last few weeks. I’m pleased to announce the latest addition to the list is Alan Holmes from Apex Engineering (pictures). Alan’s company have sponsored my Assistant Simon Van-De-Broucke for the season and the amount left over will form a valuable contribution towards equipment for the Reserve team this season. My sincere thanks to Alan and his company for the much valued contribution and support.
