Hobby leaves the Moat Ground
Former Rocester midfielder Danny Hobby has decided to quit playing football and has left the Moat Ground.
He has found it difficult to fulfil his playing career while employed as a fireman and has decided to take a break from the game altogether. Hobby joined Gresley from Leek Town during the summer but has only managed to start two games and played three as substitute.
Manager John Newsome said: “Danny has left the club due to his work commitments and has decided to give up football for the time being.”
Also leaving, but only on a month’s loan, are Chris Gray and Chris Parkins.
Gray has joined Coalville Town and Parkins has joined Long Eaton and Newsome has indicated that more could follow suit.
Newsome has also declared that he is looking for a replacement for defender Gary Knight who recently left to join Redditch United.
“It was a blow to see him leave after making such a good impression in the two games he played for us. Gary was quality – just what we needed and he seemed to have the desired effect,” he remarked. “But he lives close to Redditch and it would cut out the travelling and the costs involved.
“We’ve got a couple of names in line to replace him but nothing will happen before tomorrow. I’m delighted to have Stuart Evans back in the squad. He played 48 minutes of our last game against Swindon Supermarine but he has got to build his match fitness up.”
