Bromsgrove Rovers pre-match news
Gresley Rovers take another step on the FA Cup trail on Saturday when they visit league leaders Bromsgrove Rovers at Victoria Road.
Manager Jon Newsome said: “It will not be an easy game. They are a quality side and like to get the ball down and play football; they are strong at the back and have all the qualities of a good side. If we want to progress we will have to play good sides.“I’m confident as I think we’ve got the players to go there and get a good result. We were disappointing against Solihull but we bounced back against Atherstone and put in a good all-round performance.
“The Cup is not always about performances, it’s about getting a result. If we’ve not been beaten when the final whistle goes we are half way there.”
An arm injury to striker Gary Smith looks likely to keep him out of the line-up for the game and could help Newsome decide to revert to the 4-4-2 formation rather than the
3-4-1-2 used against the Adders pushing Chris Parkins up to partner fellow striker Neil Kitching.
Danny Hobby, Andy Bourne and Gary White return to the squad and also included is Earl Alexander who made an impressive debut coming on as a substitute on Wednesday.
Youngsters Nathan Tate and Carl Timms have also been named in the squad.
Newsome has named himself in the squad but refused to say if he will play. “I will be in the squad but whether I play is something else. Desperate measures were needed against Atherstone where I felt I should play to steady the defence and I think it worked out. But Gary White should be fit so we could revert to how we played before. I’ve yet to make up my mind.”
