Gaz Norton's Reserve team news
I am writing these notes after our victory midweek victory against Chasetown. In an exciting game against a very good side we managed to get the result after totally dominating the second half.
The pleasing factors that came out of the game were our second clean sheet and the desire and effort that the lads put in to hold on to the 3 points. The team have set their own standards very early in the season and Simon and I will be working very hard to ensure that the lads maintain them as best they can. New signing, Dave Roberts, brother of keeper Ian made his debut after John Smith arrived late for kick off. He had a superb game and took his chance in the side well. Young full back Nathan Tate had another excellent game and Carl Timms stood out in the midfield. Mark Peters came into the side to get some much needed match fitness and after a slow start worked very hard and his experience was influential in ensuring we ground out our victory.
It was a particularly pleasing night when news of the 1st teams victory against RC Warwick filtered through to our dressing room. Well done to Jon and the lads and obviously we hope for more of the same today. We travel over to Redditch this afternoon and obviously are hoping to continue our good start to the season.
On Bank Holiday Monday we entertain Quorn at the Moat Ground (7-45). If you cant make it to the 1st team game at Bedworth it would be great to see as many of you here as possible to get behind the lads.
1st Team fringe players Lee Withers and James Lewsley have yet to feature this season due to injuries and once fit will obviously be fighting for places in the Reserves before they are considered for 1st team action. Hopefully Lee and James will be fit for action soon to improve the competition for places in both sides.
