Rovers last stand!
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers today announced plans for a new, 220 seater stand to be built before the start of next season – and hope it will provide the key to promotion to the Beazer Homes Midland Division.
Chairman Peter Hall told the Mail: “We have agreed to accept the price quoted, a planning application has been submitted and we’re just waiting for permission to start work.”

The club is not disclosing the price of the project. The new stand will take 12 weeks to erect and will be built on the site of the club’s existing stand, incorporating a protective “cage” for players and officials.

And in a bid to step up the club’s Beazer Homes League promotion bid, plans for the stand – along with a solicitor’s letter confirming that work will be completed in time for next season – have been sent to league secretary Dennis Strudwick.

In fact, the club anticipates that work will be completed by June 30th.

Meanwhile, work on rebuilding perimeter walls and hard standing areas at the Moat Ground is now complete. The club now plans to build a new directors room and a new tea hut. Home and away dugouts are also being separated and sunk into the ground.

And a major pitch refurbishment is to go ahead during the closed season with an area in the centre of the ground measuring 35 yards by 75 yards to be returfed, along with both goalmouths.
