As end of season jitters begin to take their toll on the Moatmen, and their main title rivals Rocester, Dolby knows that he must keep the pressure pot from boiling over.

He said: “There is bound to be a certain amount of pressure and you can’t help looking over your shoulder to see what the others are doing.

“There’s not much you can do at this stage of the season but try and hold it all together. It’s mine and Frank’s job to keep the players minds on the job and make sure we come through in the end.

“We have to concentrate on what we are doing and worry then about other teams.”

Gresley hit the road again tomorrow for a trip to Rushall and with the majority of their remaining games away are hoping that their reputation as good traveller’s remains unstained until the championship trophy is back at the Moat Ground.

“I don’t know why we play better away,” said Dolby. “We have lost three home games this season but had gone a year without losing away until the Lye match.

“We have some difficult games like Rocester and Oldbury but I don’t think travelling away will worry us too much. Hard pitches are more of a concern. We like to play football which is difficult when the ball is bouncing about.”

Three points tomorrow would be a welcome addition to the Rovers points tally and would keep their title rivals from snapping at their heels with too much fury.

“Rushall play football,” said Dolby. “They won’t defend against us. They will try and compete. That suits our style but they will still be dangerous. We beat them at home a couple of weeks ago but it wasn’t an easy victory. We will be looking for three points tomorrow but we will have to work to get them.”
