Rovers return

Steve Dolby’s journey took him full circle last night when he rejoined Gresley Rovers as coach.
Rovers’ boss Frank Northwood moved swiftly to regain Dolby’s services as soon as Burton Albion announced his dismissal. The 32-year-old teacher’s Moat Ground return means demotion to reserve team duties for Graham Fearn.
Northwood said: “ We’re glad to have Steve back. Graham has done a good job and is still part of the set up at Gresley; it’s as simple as that. We never wanted Steve to leave, but now it’s a case of Burton Albion’s loss being Gresley’s gain.
“All the boys are backing Steve 100 per cent – they all want him back.”
Dolby, whose four-month spell at Eton Park cost Albion £500 in compensation, said: “I was happy to be asked back by Gresley and I was happy to accept.”
A disappointed Fearn said: “When Frank phoned me I put the phone down and expected ‘Beadle’s About’ to be outside. I’ll let others draw their own conclusions on how I feel.
“I’ve still got the club at heart so I don’t want comment any further.”
Dolby and former manager Ken Blair said their farewells to more than 20 Albion players at a Burton pub re-union after last night’s training session.
