Rovers ready to shuffle the pack

Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood could be poised to make two new midfield signings after watching his side struggle to gain a point at Hinckley Athletic yesterday.
Northwood took immediate action to try and plug the gaps he can see in his side although his transfer targets are still a mystery at present. He said: “We might need a couple of players in midfield so I did a bit of ringing round last night. We are not creating enough in midfield at the moment. We are relying too much on Richard Denby. I can’t tell you who I’m ringing but I’ll work out our problems.
“We had too many players not at their best yesterday. It looked like we had had too much turkey, too much drink, too much everything. And it seemed it was still Christmas when we gave them a gift of a goal. Only Ray Skeemer and Bob Aston came up to scratch and maybe Gil Land could be added to that list.”
Gresley are straight back into action tomorrow with a re-arranged game against Stourport Swifts at the Moat Ground (7.30pm).
The same squad will be on duty, but utility player Peter Perry will almost certainly get a game this time out.
According to Northwood this match could be the best antidote to the holiday hangover for his side.
“It’s my job to shake them up,” he said. “I’m pleased we have got a chance to bounce straight back. You can’t say it will be an easy game tomorrow though. They could borrow players and turn out a different side. There is a lot of that in this league.
“However, I will say this – even though we are top of the league I wouldn’t say we had seen the best of Gresley yet. We don’t have to worry about other sides.”
