Frank slams ref after Vase crash

Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood has blasted the referee who last night played an important part in the Moatmen’s F A Vase downfall.
Sad Rovers crashed out of the competition in a second round replay at Paget – and Northwood was quick to put the blame on the match officials.Paget scored a 55th minute equaliser from the penalty spot and took the lead some after.
But Northwood said: “There was no way it was a penalty and for their third goal their man must have been five yards offside. There must be a question mark over the referee.
“The best side did win on the night but after saying that if players don’t do as they are told then you have to start again.”
The Rovers boss does believe, however, that some good could come out of his team’s early exit from the competition.
“Everyone likes a good run in the cup,” he said. “But in a way going out tonight might be a godsend because the league is so important.”
The quest for promotion was not helped though by two more injuries in last night’s game.
Striker Paul Acklam suffered a worrying ankle injury and Tracey Norton only managed to play for 29 minutes after bruising a hip in the first 30 seconds.
