Rovers aim to put it right

Frank Northwood believes his Gresley Rovers side can make the FA Vase third round at the second attempt in tonight’s replay at Paget Rangers’ Springfield Road (7.30pm) – but not before they’ve had their backsides kicked!
The Moat Ground boss watched his side go behind after losing a two-goal advantage over the Sutton Coldfield club on Saturday before snatching an equaliser deep in extra time.Northwood said: “We were winning 3-1 and a few mistakes crept in. But if there were no mistakes there would mot be any goals, and it was a very good game.”
But he warned: “When you are winning 3-1, somebody wants their backside kicking for letting them in the game. I would say the middle of the park was the problem. We weren’t picking up in that area. It sounds like it was a defensive error but I don’t believe it was. I’m sure they’ll put it right tonight.”
Full back Steve Adcock is the only player missing for tonight’s game. He suffered an ankle injury on Saturday. However, tonight’s game could see the return of Peter Perry who has also been suffering from ankle trouble.
Northwood said: “Adcock won’t be available but the better news is that Peter Perry had a game on Sunday and he had declared himself fit.”
“Adcock has an ankle injury but he is optimistic he will only be out for a couple of weeks.”
Victory tonight would earn Rovers a visit to Derbyshire rivals Heanor Town but Northwood clearly had his priorities worked out.
“I’ll look after this one first then I’ll see how it goes,” he said.
