Frank tells moaners to stay away

Moat Ground supremo Frank Northwood today hit out at critics of his table topping side.
With Rovers due to entertain Paget Rangers in a Banks’s League Cup second round replay tonight (7.30) the veteran boss complained: “It was an excellent game against Hinckley Town on Saturday but some people were still complaining afterwards.“One group of fans told me afterwards that we needed pace upfront. I’d just reminded them that we are not only top of the league but top scorers as well.
“Quite honestly, I told the moaners that if all they can do is complain then they should stay away.”
And with tonight’s game a dress rehearsal for Paget’s FA Vase visit later in the month Northwood appealed for more backing from the terraces.
“We need our fans to get behind us and give us a shout,” he said. “Rocester’s manager Alan Beaman said after they’d beaten us here a couple of weeks ago that their support – which was tremendous – was worth a goal to them. I believe that was right.”
Coach Graham Fearn revealed after Rocester’s 3-1 win at the Moat – Gresley’s only league defeat of the season – that his players were shocked by the level of visiting support from the terraces.
“The players were genuinely disappointed that, even though we were at home, they couldn’t hear any support from the sidelines,” said Fearn. “It would really lift us if the fans got behind us more.”
