Frank calls for do-or-die effort

Frank Northwood today sounded a ‘fight to death’ warning to his players on the eve of Gresley Rovers’ FA Cup first qualifying round clash away to Gainsborough Trinity (3pm).
The Moat Ground bass said: “If we give 100 per cent there’s no reason why we shouldn’t cause an upset.“But I’ll say here and now that any player who shirks his responsibilities will be shown the door.”
Northwood has already shown his ruthless streak by releasing striker Ian Wells after accusing him of a lack of effort.
“Anyone who chooses to ignore that type of action will find himself going the same way,” said Northwood.
The Gresley manager recalls goalkeeper and skipper Bob Aston for the trip to Northolme in place of teenager Simon Harrison, whose shaky form was partially to blame for the shock 3-2 defeat at home to Chasetown last Saturday.
Dave Beattie, unavailable last week, returns in place of Martin Dick, who is on holiday, and midfielder Jon Laws is included in Northwood’s squad for the first time after being ruled out by work commitments.
