Aston scare for Rovers
Story courtesy of
Gresley Rovers keeper Bob Aston could miss Saturday’s Johnson Cup showdown with Burton Albion at Eton Park.
Aston was taken to hospital last night after damaging a shoulder in Rovers’ 3-1 defeat at Atherstone.

Rovers’ officials feared that he might have suffered a dislocation, but x-rays revealed a pulled muscle.

He has been advised to rest, however, and Gresley boss Frank Northwood may decide not to risk him against Albion.

Rovers’ triumph in the Derbyshire Senior Cup last season has been rewarded with an exemption to the quarter final stages in the new campaign.

Rovers, Alfreton – the side they beat in the final – and losing semi-finalists Borrowash Victoria and Buxton all miss the opening two rounds of the competitions.
