Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood last night promised fans another tilt at the Banks’s League Premier Division title.
Speaking at the club’s annual meeting, Northwood said: “Although we won the Derbyshire Senior Cup last season, no-one was more disappointed than myself that we didn’t get promotion to the Southern League. We shall be trying very hard to do something about that in the new campaign.“It’s up to all of us on the playing side to work very hard. We feel we can put everything right if we get that little bit of luck that every successful side needs.”
But Northwood warned supporters that he would have to continue to import players if Rovers were to maintain a high profile.
He said: “I have people scouting for me in the area, I have local players recommended to me, but I still have to go far and wide for players to compete in the Banks’s League. It’s getting tougher every season.”
Tribute was paid during the meeting to the work of chairman Peter Hall.
Social Club chairman Alf Corner said: “He does a fantastic amount of work and a wonderful job.”
